Is anime a cartoon?

Today we're gonna be talking about something that many people have been debating for a long time. IS ANIME A CARTOON? Now some people just assume it is and then there's weebs. We'll get offended and they're like anime isn't a cartoon you little ***. D
espite this difference of opinions we
must stay civil and discuss this like normal human beings we can't get too emotional. There are different arguments and different thoughts on the matter but before we get any deeper we have to define what we mean by cartoon according to Google. The first definition is a simple drawing showing the features of its subjects and a humorously
exaggerated way especially a satirical
one in  a newspaper or magazine by that standard anime wouldn't really be a cartoon and then this brings us to the second definition which is a motion
picture using animation techniques to
photograph a sequence of drawings rather than real people or objects and when you look at it that way an anime would probably be considered a cartoon it is just a 2d animation from Japan it's not like it counts as something else just because Japanese people drew it. Ah see anime is a cartoon, it's their kids it's for babies no that's impossible anime isn't just for kids. There is lots of content that wouldn't be good for this three-year-old would you like me to show you?

That's the key word to the next
argument a lot of people get triggered
when anime is called a cartoon because
it gives off the vibe that anime is for
kids and only babies watch anime. For the
people who call anime cartoon if they
mean cartoon as in for kids or the same
thing as any Western animation they are
quite wrong every time. I watch anime,

if you think anime is only for kids just
watch attack on Titan, JoJo's Bizarre
Adventure, Akira or a silent voice. At the
same time it's not all just adult media
either Shonen likely the biggest genre
of anime literally means for young boys
shoujo for young girls and then there's
anime that really is meant for little
kids like Doraemon or Pokemon. Saying
anime is for kids is like saying all
books are for kids. There's kids books
and adult books and everything in
between. You can't judge a whole media
forum that easily.

Brad one of the big aspects of cartoons
is humor the goal is to entertain the
audience and make them laugh. There's
times when a character starts walking in
midair and then 10 seconds later
realizes that they're gonna fall. You'll
have characters die but then come back
five seconds later that kind of thing
doesn't happen in Naruto unless you're
talking about the Edo Tensei. Of course
some anime have cartoon aspects to them
and in some way one piece would be
considered a cartoon because the
characters literally get hit with things
that should kill them but somehow
survived but there is a difference
between for example one piece and Looney
Tunes in Looney Tunes. Bugs Bunny gets
hit with an anvil and he survives and
then the audience laughs the end in one
piece
Sanji gets hit with the same amount of
force and he survives and the story goes
on for years while the characters get
stronger there's lots of emotional
moments and the whole world expands and
you know that that's the difference,
 A
nime tackles lots of serious topics and
handled older content than the average
American cartoon. It doesn't even have to
be like super violent or sexual language
filled or anything like that like
there's lots of anime that are clean
technically but also present themselves
in a more mature or higher art form than
an episode of Tom Jerry. Don't get me
wrong I love Tom & Jerry. I grew up with
it it's much better than some of the
cartoons these days but it should be
clear that Tom and Jerry and spirited
away are different types of animation. E
ven Walt Disney didn't consider his
movies to be cartoons he would get mad
when people call a cartoon even if
that's what they were technically
because he considered it to be a higher
art form.
 America
itself has adult cartoons or more mature
cartoons
it's just that majority of them are
humorous and because of the focus on
humor. I'll consider shows like Simpsons
or Rick and Morty to be cartoons. SO AGAIN
 is anime a cartoon? It
depends on what the person who calls it
a cartoon means if they mean a form of
animation then yes anime is a cartoon
but if they mean it is a funny show for
little kids with the ridiculous
exaggerations than they are incorrect. A
nyways I hope
that kind of cleared things up for
anyone who's wondering.
